Meet the Team

Brought together by the thrill of the chase, Gevan, Sid, and Lynn have been hunting and worshiping together for nearly 2 decades.

Hosts

In their seventh season of hosting The Way It Was, Sid and Lynn bring more than 40 years of hunting experience to the big screen.

Sid “Goat” McCullin

Sid “Goat” McCullin was born and raised in Ruston, Louisiana, where he grew up fishing and hunting. Sid went to Louisiana Tech where he received his degree in forestry. After graduating, Sid got into the oil industry by maintaining well sites, and he has been doing that ever since. Sid now spends a lot of his time managing land for whitetails up in Kansas so his family can enjoy more of the outdoors.

Lynn “Pa” Beaty

Lynn “Pa” Beaty was born in Bossier City, Louisiana, on April 10, 1952 and has lived in Haughton, Louisiana, all of his life. With a degree in forestry from Louisiana Tech, Lynn started Beaty Logging in March 1977. Lynn has always enjoyed being in the outdoors whether it was for fun or for his job. Pa has been an avid hunter all of his life and now he enjoys bringing his kids and grandkids to his farms in Kansas, so he can show them that the way it was back then can still be enjoyed the same as the way it is today.

Gevan “Rev” Spinney

Gevan Spinney was born in Flint, MI, but got to LA as fast as he could at age 4. He was raised in Haughton, LA, enjoying the great outdoors with his dad and brothers. Gevan graduated from East Texas Baptist University and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and has been in full-time ministry for over 20 years, pastoring the First Baptist Church in Haughton (his home church) for the last 16. He is also founder and president of WTL Ministries. WTL is a ministry with the purpose of sharing the gospel of Jesus with outdoorsmen. Some of the Rev’s favorite things in life include: Witnessing a life being transformed by the grace of Jesus, taking a roadtrip with his bride, sitting in a deer stand with one of his 3 boys, watching the sun come up during the rut in Kansas and hearing a turkey gobble on a warm spring morning.
